“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
I dream about toilets. Big ones, little ones, empty ones, overflowing ones…commodes as far as the eye can see. This only happens when I have to pee. Any other time, my dreams don’t have a pot in sight. This morning, I woke up for prayer and some point after “Thank You, God, for giving me the mind to pray”, I dozed off. The crazy part – no, dreaming about commodes was not the crazy part – is that I was aware of my predicament while in the dream. I knew that if I sat on one of the glistening bowls, that chaos would be erupting on the “other side”. But they were EVERYWHERE!! I almost said, “I’ll just deal with the consequences”, when my second alarm shook me out of the dream.
AMEN! (and Hallelujah!)
How many times have you been on the verge of doing something you know you shouldn’t and God sounded an alarm? Did you heed it or did you ignore it? Think about just last week: if you can look back and say “Now, I knew better than to…” or “I shouldn’t have said…”, I guarantee that before you ____, an alarm was sounding. God will always sound some sort of alarm: through another person, His voice – I’ve even been warned through a song.
The enemy of your soul is always looking for a chance to catch you sleepin’. Let’s not only be mindful of those alarms this week, but let’s allow them to shake us up out of our slumber. Have a great day!
