Sticks and Stones

“But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God…” Acts 7:55 KJV

The above verse comes from the account of Stephen’s stoning (read Acts 6 and 7).  Here’s the CliffNotes version: they had a problem, they picked Stephen as one of seven men they deemed honest and of good report to fix the problem, Stephen came in handling his biz and getting things done in a new way, making waves as he was led by the Holy Spirit – Holy Spirit tends to shake things up, they get mad because they think he’s being extra, they lie on Stephen to discredit him, he still stands firm, they stone him.

A lot of you have been hired/set into positions or given assignments based on someone’s belief that you are the person to get the job done: you will bring about change or create solutions to a problem.  I mean, that’s why they wanted YOU.  And now that God has blessed and increased the magnitude of your efforts because you’ve allowed Him to lead you, the same people who were all “yay, we’re so glad you’re here” are now looking at you sideways.  They want you and your ideas to go somewhere.  And they are mad…some to the point of lying to discredit you.

My encouragement to you is to stand firm.  God put you in that position anyway – He just used humans to get it done.  Fix your eyes on Him and continue to do what He has placed on your heart.  And when you do that, check out what happens: Jesus will stand up for you.  Have a great day!
