Good morning, peeps!
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. – Ephesians 6:10-11 KJV
Waking up to an eyeball covered in mucus is NOT how I wanted to start my day this morning. How did this happen?? The first thing I did was replay the events of yesterday. If you ask me, I totally rocked the trainer – daughter – minister – mom combo that is I: got my trainees ready for their assessments and everyone is confident they’ll pass, finished a design project for The Queen (my mama), published a new blog and recorded four, cooked a fantastic dinner (with dessert), and washed three loads of laundry. All of this was done before 8 p.m. Woo-hoo! When I went to bed, I felt pretty good about muh-self and was looking forward to having another productive day.
All I could think about was the huge “everybody within a fifty-block radius can get a squirt” bottle of hand sanitizer that sits on my desk. I use it constantly! I took the necessary precautions at work, so what’s the deal?? When I walked into my kitchen for a drink a few minutes ago, I saw it: the stankin’ bottle of hand sanitizer sitting on the counter. Aww man! I didn’t even use it yesterday! I know, I know: hand sanitizer only works if I actually put it on my hands, but I was at home so I didn’t even think about it. Ah-ha: my surroundings changed and I let down my guard. Drat.
“Training is only as good as the implementation” is something I tell my students: I can give you all of the info you need to be successful in your job role, but it only works if you use it.” The same is true with the armor of God. Verse 11 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand”. “That you may…” Sounds like you gotta do something, doesn’t it? You can rock the armor all day / every day, but if you’re just going to sport the sword and shield like they’re the latest fashion trend, the enemy is going to come in and Pick. You. Off. You have to USE it. If you don’t, it is just as effective as having a unopened Bible on the living room table. It’s only as good as the implementation.
This is not a game, folks, and ain’t nobody trying to play dress up while a war is going on. Have a good day.
