Good morning, peeps!
2 Corinthians 12:17
When Paul mentioned his “thorn” (whatever caused him great pain – no one knows exactly), he quickly added: “your grace is sufficient”. Bam! Never mentions it again. The only people who keep talking about Paul’s “thorn”, really, is us.
I wonder if we get on his nerves with that.
We have all done things in our pasts that we regret. We regret them, but we keep mentioning them? Why?? Honorary martyrdom will not be bestowed upon you if you hold on to it. “Whatcha got there, girl?” “Honey, my past!” “Oooo…”
Now, we can reach a lot of people when we share our backstory as a testament to God’s mercy and grace, but I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about the painful and shameful things we repeat to ourselves. Over and over and over. Like we need that to remind us how we “baaaarrreeely made it in”.
How is that so when the FULL price was paid for us on Calvary?
If you’ve repented and asked God to forgive you, then let it go. And if you still bear the scars, take it from one who knows firsthand: God’s grace IS sufficient. Believe it and walk FREELY in it.
